Course Breakdown

Day 1 – Introduction & Regulatory Foundations (Classroom)

  • Drone technology in public safety operations
  • FAA regulations, COAs, and department-specific flight authorizations
  • NFPA 2400 compliance and operational safety planning
  • Drone anatomy, subsystems, and functional review
  • National Airspace System (NAS) classifications & flight restrictions

Day 2 – Pre-Flight Operations & Basic Maneuvers (Classroom + Practical)

  • Agency-specific preflight & maintenance protocols
  • Confirming airspace with FAA-authorized apps (e.g., LAANC)
  • Takeoff procedures, hover drills, and directional movement
  • Branded field checklists and open fly-time for skill-building

Day 3 – Advanced Flight Control & Emergency Procedures (Classroom + Practical)

  • Controlled flight patterns, MOCA drills, and box drills
  • Emergency descent, system failure response, and mission abort protocols
  • Battery care, environmental considerations, and heat/cold impact
  • Scenario: Daylight Search & Rescue deployment

Day 4 – Night Flight & Visual Observer Training (Classroom + Practical)
